Brooklyn House of Detention Town Hall

March 15, 6:30 PM | 410 Atlantic Avenue

The Mayor’s recently-announced plan to close Riker’s Island within 10 years and to disperse its inmate population to new or renovated jails will impact the Brooklyn House of Detention and surrounding Brooklyn neighborhoods. Council Member Stephen Levin and co-sponsoring organizations, including the BHA, are hosting a Town Hall meeting, at which The Independent Commission on Criminal Justice and Incarceration Reform (Lippman Commission) will discuss their report, A More Just New York City, and their recommendations for  closing Rikers and judicial reforms. This will be followed by a Q & A period to hear the concerns of the community.
