Community Meeting to Combat Hate Crimes

December 19, 6:30 PM | St. Francis College

In the wake of the election, there has been an increase in hate crimes around the country and across the city, including in our own neighborhood. Adam Yauch Park playground was defaced last month with a pair of swastikas and the words “Go Trump” spray painted on the equipment.

In response to this and other disturbing events, Council Member Stephen Levin is organizing two community forums to discuss tactics for preventing future hate crimes. The Brooklyn Heights forum will take place on December 19, 6:30-8:30, at St. Francis College (182 Remsen). For more information, please call 718-875-5200.

“In the face of uncertainty, we must join together with one another to make a positive change in our community. While we keep a watchful eye on what is happening on a national stage, we can also make a difference right here in our neighborhood.” – Levin

Attending the 12/19 Meeting will be:

The Arab-American Family Support Center
Brooklyn Community Pride Center
New York City Anti-Violence Project
National Institute for Reproductive Health
Food & Water Watch – New York
Showing Up for Racial Justice – SURJ, NYC
