Earlier this month, the City unveiled a new website to promote the Brooklyn-Queens Connector, also known as the “BQX.” NYCEDC is now holding a series of public workshops on the BQX in addition to making presentations to the Community Boards. These meetings and presentations are precursors to an environmental review for the proposal, with a public hearing scheduled for May 2020.
The first community meeting is Thursday, February 6, 2020, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street. The BHA will be there to ask questions and learn more about the project’s current status. We invite anyone who is interested in this project to join us at Borough Hall – Please register here for this free event.
While the BHA has not yet taken a formal position on the BQX, we continue to believe that there may be better and more cost-effective ways to achieve improved public transportation options and connectivity for the people and communities the BQX intends to serve. Moreover, now is not the time to finalize any plans with respect to the BQX when nothing has been resolved about the BQE.
Learn more about the project’s estimated costs, timeline, and financing from Gothamist and the Brooklyn Eagle. You can also watch the panel discussion we held on this issue in 2017.
