COVID-19 Related Resources

During this extraordinarily difficult time, it has been heartening to see our community come together in ways large and small. 

A group called Brooklyn Mutual Aid has formed to provide direct support for residents of Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Columbia Waterfront and Williamsburg.

If you need someone to run errands, mail letters, pick up groceries, get prescriptions, etc., you can call or send a text to (929) 314-0899 or email brooklynmutualaid@gmail.com. Include your name, the neighborhood you live in and what you need help with.

 If you would like to volunteer, go here and follow the instructions.

The BHA has a new page on its website to help you connect to local and citywide COVID-19 related resources and information. 

Like many, the BHA is operating under a work from home protocol, which means that there will be some delays in processing your memberships and renuals. The easiset way for us to stay up to date is if you join or renew on our secure website. Thank you for your patience!

An Important Note About Mail Delivery: There have been numerous reports from residents about mail not being delivered for multiple days in a row. The BHA is in contact with elected officials and Community Board 2 to learn more. We don't have any definitive information from the Postal Service yet, but it appears that many carriers are out sick or not working at this time. Please be kind to those you do see on their routes as we have heard many carriers are working double shifts. As soon as we have more information we will let you know.

For Some Good News

If you've strolled through the north heights or Brooklyn Bridge Park recently you may have noticed that the new bridge connecting Squibb Park with the rest of Brooklyn Bridge Park has been delivered! The bridge had been scheduled to open in summer of 2020 but that timeline may have changed given the COVID-19 situation.

Landmarks Commission to Accept Online Permit Applications
 

As of March 17, 2020, as part of the agency response to the COVID-19 situation, LPC is temporarily accepting electronic filing of all permit applications. Application forms and associated drawings, photographs and other materials must be emailed to LPC at
applications@lpc.nyc.gov. Electronic applications will be given priority during the City’s COVID-19 Response. Go to LPC's website to learn more and get e-filing instructions.

Please note that LPC hearings are currently suspended as they explore opportunities for virtual hearings and meetings.
