All kids big and small are invited to join us at Pierrepont Playground this Saturday for our annual Egg Hunt!  Gates open at 11am sharp and we ask that each child collect no more than 3 eggs so there is plenty to share.

Our bake sale is still accepting goodies! 

All applications filed with the Landmarks Preservation Commission will now be filed using Portico.  This new web-based permit application will hopefully make it easier and faster for owners of landmark buildings to manage the process. 

Owners their applicant team can use Portico for everything from filing applications for new permits or amending existing ones, to uploading supporting documentation (photographs, architectural plans, presentations), requesting notices of compliance, and receiving final permits and approved drawings.

The NYC Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday April 16th at 10am on a bill to ban nonessential helicopter traffic at city heliports. The hearing will feature testimony on bill Int. 26 – 2024. If passed, it would ban all nonessential fossil fuel-based helicopters from the two City-owned heliports, essentially eliminating 30,000 annual tourist helicopter flights. Thank you to CM Restler and all the other NYC Council co-sponsors of this bill. 

The more members of the public who testify at this crucial hearing, the more likely this bill will advance to the floor for a vote. Here is your chance to describe your personal experiences with helicopter traffic and its negative impacts on your life. 

Testifying in person is strongly encouraged, but you can also testify online or submit written testimony. The BHA will plan to attend the hearing and testify but we hope many of you will support this effort with additional testimony. 

However you are able to participate, registration is required.  Be sure to select the hearing on "Tuesday Apr 16 @ 10:00 AM – Committee on Economic Development".

The next phase of the High Street A C station escalator replacement project is currently underway. 

In order to keep passengers safe from construction, the Cadman Plaza West side of the station will be closed and unavailable until the end of April 2024. 

During this time, the station will still be open for subway service, but all access to the station will be provided at the Adams Street side of the station. The full project is still on track to be completed in early Summer 2024.

BQE Central Workshops Focusing on DUMBO/VINEGAR HILL/FARRAGUT

Thu 04.04 & Mon 04.08 @ 6:30pm - NYC DOT will present concepts for the reconstruction of the BQE near the Manhattan Bridge. The April 04 session is hosted by Church of the Open Door and Farragut Stakeholders Group at 201 Gold Street. The April 08 session will be online via Zoom and requires advance registration here.

REPIARS & CLOSURES

Thru Fri 04.05 - The NYCDOT will close one lane in the early AM hours (see schedule here) on the Staten Island-bound BQE from the Vine St entrance ramp to Atlantic Ave due to core extraction and testing along the BQE.

Thru Fri 04.12 - The NYCDOT will continue to close one lane from midnight to 5am on the Queens-bound BQE from Atlantic to Clark St to accommodate saw cutting and concrete removal of pavement for interim repairs. The Atlantic Ave entrance ramp will also be closed.

As a reminder, all lanes of the Queens-bound BQE will be closed from Atlantic Avenue to Sands Street from 2:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13th until or before 4:00 a.m. Monday, April 15th to accommodate repair work on BQE Spans 4 & 34. A second closure is expected on the weekend of June 1-3.
