BQE 1st Weekend Closure Complete

Last weekend's BQE closure enabled the NYCDOT to complete the necessary concrete installation and the BQE (from Atlantic Ave to Sands Street) was fully reopened on Sunday afternoon.

Nighttime single lane closures on the Staten-Island bound BQE will continue from 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m for the remainder of this year’s construction season (mid-November). Queens-bound traffic will shift to allow for additional work but no lane closures are anticipated at this time.

The DOT has announced that a second weekend closure will take place sometime in Spring 2024. We will inform the community when that date is announced.

The BHA will be in touch with DOT to understand the traffic and other ramifications from last weekend's closure. If you have any observations or concerns about the closure, please share them with us.

Blood Donors Save Lives

Thank you to everyone who generously donated blood last Saturday on Montague Street! Your combined donations will help to save the lives of 81 patients in local hospitals.

The New York Blood Center will email Saturday's donors information and a link to redeem your $15 electronic gift card within a week.

There is still a significant need in New York City. You can give blood any day at The New York Blood Center's new facility at 30 Flatbush Avenue or at specific blood drives around the city. Schedule your appointment today!

Final 2 Open Streets of the Season!

This Saturday, October 21st, the nor'easter is expected to move out of our area just in time for Open Streets!

Come out and listen to the fabulous Morrisania Band Project from 3-5pm (we've had to reschedule them twice due to the weather and we promise they are worth listening to in spite of the cloudy skies!) while you enjoy an adult beverage at the picnic benches in our Cocktail Co-Op. You can purchase a to-go beverage at ANY Montague business and consume it in the co-op area.

Earlier in the afternoon, kids can dance it up with Hype Dance Community. Be sure welcome Barry's Bootcamp and visit European Wax Center for some early treats!

Please move your car off of Montague between Hicks and Henry Street by 10am on Saturday. Thank you!

Next Saturday, October 28th kick off the day with the BHA Annual Halloween Parade! Put on your scariest, silliest, most creative costumes and head to the Clark Street entrance to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. Parade begins at 11am sharp and ends at the Remsen Street cul-de-sac for some treats!

Then march on over to Montague Street and enjoy a day of Halloween fun at our last Open Streets of the season! Trick-or-treat at Montague businesses, visit a pumpkin patch, get spooky photos of the whole family (that includes pets!) and rock to kids musical sensation Jaw. The Cocktail Coop will also be open for the adults to enjoy a fall beveages!

Daffodil Planting at Cadman Park | Sunday, October 22nd, 10AM - 1PM. Sign up by emailing the Cadman Park Conservancy.

Earn a $2500 Referral Fee from The Watermark

Recently we held an event at The Watermark to welcome our newest members to the BHA. Many attendees had the opportunity to get a tour of their beautiful faciities.

Did you know that BHA members who refer a resident to the Watermark can earn a $2500 referral fee? The potential resident must provide the BHA member name upon their first tour of the Watermark facility and, after moving in, must reside at Watermark for a minimum of sixty days.
