Another critical way to serve the community and our city is to compost food scraps and other organics! Did you know DSNY collects 10,000 tons of garbage a day - but 1/3 is NOT TRASH. It's food scraps and yard waste that could be put to use making compost for NYC parks and trees, or to make green energy. Curbside Composting is back in Brooklyn Heights but we need more of you to get involved! Robust participation will reduce rats and other vermin on our streets, reduce greenhouse gasses like methane, and help the city meet its climate goals. It's easy and free to sign up.
