This is your last chance to take the Brooklyn Heights Community Planning Survey!

As you probably know, the BHA advocates for improvements to the quality of life in our wonderful neighborhood. That includes a focus on the “public realm,” in other words, all of the spaces and places where we have shared encounters each day. Our sidewalks, streets, parks, and plazas are the areas where we  come together, socialize, and collectively experience the neighborhood. We believe that the quality of our public realm is vital if we are to be successful in creating an environment where people love to live, work, and play. 

In partnership with the BHA, the Montague BID and CM Restler's office, the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is collecting community feedback on how we can bring about a safer, more sustainable city with increased pedestrian space and other improvements to the public realm in Brooklyn Heights. 

The more responses there are, the more confident we will be that the improvements considered by DOT are supported by YOU! 

The survey will close at the end of December. It will take less than ten minutes of your time to complete. 

CM Restler's office, The Service Collective and Spread Love Brooklyn are partnering to bring some holiday cheer for children in need in our community. 

New or unused toys and books can be donated:

Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm, through December 15  | 410 Atlantic Avenue, District 33 Office

AND
Saturday, December 16 | 9am-12pm | Borough Hall Greenmarket

Please sign up to donate (this helps ensure there are enough age-appropriate toys for every child). NYC DOT will host their final 2023 Office Hours to provide an update on repair work completed in 2023 and a look ahead for 2024. This Zoom meeting will take place on Thursday, December 7th at 4:00 p.m.

The Brooklyn Heights Garden Club's annual tree lighting will take place on Wednesday, December 13th at 5:30pm.

Join us on the Promenade @ Montague Street for a tree lighting ceremony, including a visit from Santa and singing by the always wonderful Grace Chorale. After the lighting, take a stroll up Montague Street to the Brooklyn Women's Exchange, which will be open for holiday shopping until 7pm.

As a reminder, the final opportunities to drop off coats at our office (55 Pierrepont Street, 2nd floor) are:

Those missing mailboxes aren't your imagination!  As we reported before Thanksgiving, we learned from U. S. Representative Dan Goldman's office that the USPS removed certain collection boxes due to recent mail theft and tampering incidents. Unfortunately, these boxes will not be replaced.

However, USPS has assured us that there are secure mailboxes located within a 1-3 block range for each of the boxes removed. See below for details.
