Cadman Park is about to get a turf lift!  Thanks to a $750,000 allocation from CM Restler's Office, NYC Parks is starting work to replace the old and falling apart synthetic turf at Cadman  Park. The work will begin the week of August 14 and will hopefully be complete in 2-3 months.

Replacing the old turf has been a priority for the BHA, the Cadman Park Conservancy, and many other park-goers for years. 

The turf area will be closed for public use (as well as the Cadman Park Oval where reconstruction is ongoing through spring 2024.) However, the surrounding seating and grass around the turf will remain open to the public and we look forward to enjoying all the improved public space in the near future!

As has been widely reported, there have been a few very concerning incidents in the neighborhood over the past few months, the latest of which include reports of a man harassing and threatening people on the north end of the Promenade. 

Please continue to be vigilant and report anything concerning to the NYPD (and the BHA if you choose.) Our Neighborhood Coordination Officers recently told us that residents should continue to use 311 to report non-threatening individuals who are in need of shelter or mental health services. However, if you are being menaced, or followed on the street for example, you should call 911 to report. 

The BHA will stay in close contact with the 84th Precinct and our elected officials about safety in our area. We very much encourage you to attend the NYPD Build the Block Meetings where you can engage directly with our NCOs and other local residents about matters relating to crime and safety.

You can also attend the 84th Precinct Community Council Meetings, which typically take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Brooklyn Borough President's Office, 209 Joralemon Street.
