You may know that the BHA's Promenade Gardens Conservancy (PGC) cares for the beautiful gardens along the Promenade. You might not know that under the leadership of NYC Parks Horticulturist Anil Chandrakumar the group has expanded its activities to help cultivate some beautiful gardens around Cadman Plaza Park and Borough Hall. Anil and a dedicated group of volunteers from the PGC and Cadman Park Conservancy have spent the past few months pruning and planting and have recently installed planters. On Saturday morning, the group will be planting over 100 cannas.
There are over 1,700 parks across the five boroughs and caring for them is a tall order! Anil points to the incredible community engagement as key to the success we've had cultivating the green spaces in our neighborhood. Here are some pictures highlighting their work.
