Tickets to the September 30th Opening Night Party are going fast.  This is your opportunity to support your favorite neighborhood association AND be the first to experience the house and meet our incredible designers. Savor cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with friends and neighbors and enjoy a few surprises along the way. Buy your party ticket today!

The Showhouse will be open to the public beginning Friday, October 2 through Sunday, November 1 for visits Thursdays through Sundays. Get tickets now!  We are also scheduling some amazing events Mondays-Wednesdays.  Stay tuned for details and get ready to snag your ticket in next week's newsletter.

Volunteers are needed to staff the floors when the house is open. As a Showhouse volunteer you will welcome guests, answer basic questions and generally oversee your assigned area.  You can sign up for a shift (or two) here. In appreciation of your time, you will receive two (2) complimentary tickets to return to the house for your own visit.

Be a World Singing Day Sponsor!

On Saturday October 17, communities around the world will come together in song as part of World Singing Day.  This year, the BHA is proud to bring this event for the first time to New York City! 

World Singing Day will take place at noon at the steps to Brooklyn Borough Hall.  We have created a list of songs that we believe honors Brooklyn, our neighborhood, and some musical icons.

We can use your support!  We are looking for song sponsors to help cover the cost of the song books.  Sponsorship is $100 and your name(s) will be printed next to the song of your choice.  Take a look at the song list and email our event chair Bob Yates to request your song and process payment. Thank you!
 

Park(ing) Day Today on Montague Street

Join Sasaki Design, an interdisciplinary architecture, planning, landscape, and design firm (with offices in Brooklyn Heights) this afternoon for annual Park(ing) Day!

Park(ing) Day is celebrated around the world by transforming ordinary parking spaces into places for conversation, play, connection, art, conversation, and music! It gives us a chance to reimagine our streets and what we want in our neighborhoods. This year Sasaki will be transforming a space on Montague Street (created from the street redesign project led by the BHA) into the garden of tomorrow!

You can find them on Montague Street between Clinton and Henry Street from 12-3pm. Look for the grass carpet and come say hi! 
 

Brooklyn Marine Terminal Community Meeting

Interested in learning more about the Brooklyn Marine Terminal Project, what's next, and how you can shape its development? Elected officials and community based organizations have organized a community forum for September 28th, 6-8pm. Register HERE. 
 

Community Fridge Needs:

Sandwich Making and Fridge Cleaning

Looking to give back to the neighborhood? Help fill and clean the Brooklyn Heights Community Fridge! 

Make some Sandwiches!  On Monday, October 5th from 5 to 6pm, volunteers will prepare, wrap and label over 100 sandwiches for the Community Fridge. We are excited to announce the Zion German Lutheran Church will be hosting, enabling us to increase capacity for this popular event.  The Church is also co-host for the new Community Fridge, so stocking the fridge is just steps away!  

In order to cover the cost of supplies, we are asking all registrants to make a $10 donation to the BHA's food fund. Sign up here. 

Cleaner Needed!  We also need someone to stop by the fridge Monday morning, September 21 for our weekly cleaning shift.  A shift only takes 10 minutes and keeps this invaluable community resource running. All you need to bring are some paper towels, a cleaning spray and a garbage bag. Sign up  here and someone from the BHA will be in touch with details.  Your time is greatly appreciated.
 

It's Bark-tastic Day at Hillside Dog Park

Hillside Dog Park is a partner in City of Forest Day 2026 on Saturday, October 3, which means another clean up project is waiting for you!

Sponsored by Forest for All NYC in partnership with the Parks and Open Space Partners coalition and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks), City of Forest Day is an annual day of activities across the city to raise awareness of the importance of New York City's urban forest — and the essential role New Yorkers play every day in caring for the "lungs" of our city.  Join them at the park between 9am-12pm.  See details here.
