Devan Paul joins the BHA as our new Program Manager, specializing in commercial revitalization.
The BHA was recently awarded a $100,000 strategic impact grant by the city’s Department of Small Business Services to conduct a Commercial District Needs Assessment in Brooklyn Heights.
This data collection effort will help the BHA identify the needs and opportunities for public programming and public space activation, merchant organizing, district marketing and branding, streetscape enhancements, business support services, and other quality of life improvements.
Devan will be managing this process – expect to see him out surveying our businesses and streetscapes in the coming months!
Devan was an intern for the BHA last summer and is thrilled to return to the Heights. In between, he completed a Coro Fellowship in Public Affairs in San Francisco, where he hails from.
Prior to moving to New York, Devan worked on a political campaign in Philadelphia, as well as for the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association and the Eno Center for Transportation. He holds a B.A. in Urban Studies and Health & Human Biology (Environmental Health) from Brown University, where he published a thesis on campus planning.
He’s excited to bring his civic engagement and policy experience, his love of cities, and passion for building strong communities to his work at the BHA.
