Soccer Fever on Montague Street!
Last Sunday, Montague Street hosted a special edition of Open Streets. Hundreds of fans turned out for the FIFA World Cup Final Watch Party between Henry and Clinton Streets.
The large, diverse crowd came alive with each play, enjoyed the first-ever halftime show, supported local businesses, and erupted in excitement as Spain defeated Argentina 1-0. Local youth soccer groups
Soccer Legion FC,
Soccer Shots,
VP Soccer, and
Super Soccer Stars ran clinics and games throughout the day, and the Panini sticker trading area was abuzz with kids of all ages working to complete their books.
A huge THANK YOU to Van Leeuwen Ice Cream for providing their wifi connection so we could stream the match, and to Montague Diner for providing electricity.
On the other end of Montague Street,
L'Appartement 4F hosted a sold-out Bastille Day Celebration filled with summer produce, hot dogs topped with caviar, and French bubbly. The French-flavored block party also supported
Natoora's Farm Fund, which helps young growers cover the costs of operating conscious farms. It was a beautiful day that brought community, joy, and vibrant business to the neighborhood.
Community, joy, and local business, all in one beautiful afternoon. Thank you to everyone who came out!
