Welcome to the 2026 Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse!

We are thrilled to announce that the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse will return this fall! 

Our biennial fundraiser is an incredible opportunity to visit a historic home and enjoy the talents of our incredible interior designers. This year's Showhouse will be at One Monroe Place (Monroe Place & Clark Street). The landmarked 1852 corner mansion will serve as the magnificent home for this year's roster of acclaimed interior designers and architects, landscape designers and design brands.

The grand 25-foot-wide residence is a stunning example of 19th-century architecture with a rich history, including being the home of the Weirs, an iconic Brooklyn Heights family whose floral business has been a neighborhood fixture for decades. 

Held every two years since 2017, the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse is known for celebrating iconic Brooklyn style and introducing emerging design talent.

Save the Date of September 30th for the Opening Night Party!  Our marquee benefit, the Opening Night Party gives guests a first look at the house and the talent of the designers. Tickets for the party will go on sale later this summer.

The house will then open to the public from Friday, October 2nd -- Sunday, November 1st.  If you are interested in learning more, visit the Showhouse website and be sure to follow us on Instagram @brooklynshowhouse.
 

Put Your Paws Together for the BHA Dog Show!

Another BHA Dog Show in the books!  Last Sunday's event was the perfect combination of our adorable canine neighbors having their moment in the (bright!) sunlight along our community showing their energetic spirit.  Congratulations to the winners in the six categories: Lady Chicken, Cayuga, Jim, both Birdies and Daisy as well to all of the contestants for putting on a great show!

Huge thank you to our MC extraordinaire, Quinn Ferree for keeping the audience entertained and the show running on time. We are deeply grateful for his sponsorship via the DeNiro Team at Brown Harris Stevens as well as to our additional sponsors, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and K9 Resorts DUMBO who helped make this event possible. Cheers to our judges, Meredith Bluestine, Sunny Sharkey and our Event Chair Grace Flintermann and to all of the other volunteers who helped put this event together!

And The Winner Is....

Yesteryear, Caro Claire Burke's debut novel about a traditional American woman, a “tradwife” influencer, who suddenly awakens in the brutal reality of 1855, has been voted as our next book for the BHA Book Club!

Books can be purchased at Books are Magic for a 20% discount.  Just mention the BHA Book Club.  Books can also be purchased on their website using code BHA20.

The Book Club will meet at 7pm at Vineapple on Wednesday, July 15th.  Tickets are $25 for BHA members and $35 for non-members and include one cocktail/mocktail and light bites. The event will be capped at 35 people and tickets must be purchased ahead of time.

Please Remember to Water our Street Trees!
The summer heat is here, and our trees need your help. Mature street trees require 8 to 10 gallons of water each week from May through October to stay healthy and thrive. Young, newly planted trees need twice that much – 15 to 20 gallons per week. They rely on us to keep them hydrated during the hottest months of the year.
 
Look for the Brooklyn Heights Tree Team at Open Streets this Sunday, June 21. Stop by to learn simple, practical ways to help care for our neighborhood trees, ask your questions, share your successes, and meet our Brooklyn Heights Tree Stewards.

Summer Notice

As the summer solstice approaches we will be lightening up our newsletter schedule.  Beginning this week, the BHA weekly newsletter will turn bi-weekly through Labor Day, so that we can focus our energy on other work-related projects as well as take some time to recharge for the fall.

This will be our last newsletter during the spring season of Montague Open Streets. With 2 weeks, be sure to stop by and enjoy a Father’s Day Khinkali Party at Chama Mama along with other ways to celebrate the dads in our lives this Sunday, June 21st. 

And for the last event of the season, join us for a special Music Day on Sunday, June 28th.  You can find all the details for both days here.  Remember: Montague Street from Hicks to Clinton Street will be closed to traffic on those Sundays from 10am-7pm.  Please be so kind as to move your parked car off of those blocks for these Open Streets activities.

A reminder that early voting is now open through Sunday, June 21st and Election Day is Tuesday, June 23rd. Find your poll sites and view a sample ballot.  The Brooklyn Paper also put together a guide for this month's elections, which you can access here.

Please take a few minutes out of your day, and make your voice heard.
