This Weekend's Service Event

(with a caveat for rain)

Our annual Spring into Service event is this Saturday! This is a great day of volunteer activities across the neighborhood as well as an opportunity to clean out your closets! See our website for a list of activitiies

We are once again collecting donations for two great Brooklyn-based organizations.  The collection will happen rain or shine!

Books for Kids and Teens for Brooklyn Book Bodega - We will be collecting new and gently used books appropriate for children 0-18 years old. 

Baby Supplies for Little Essentials - Diapers, toys, clothing ages 0-5 years. 

All items will be collected in front of Pierrepont Playground (weather permitting) from 10am-1pm. See donation guidelines. In the event of rain, donations should be dropped off at St Anne's Church, Parish Hall.

Rain Rain Go Away!  Right now, Saturday's forecast looks pretty rainy.  We will be studiously monitoring our weather apps and communicate any changes via email and Instagram. 
 

Spend an Evening with Author Ben Markovits

We are thrilled to welcome author Ben Markovits for a small group gathering to discuss his latest book, "The Rest of Our Lives," shortlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize.  The event will take place on Thursday, May 21st from 6:30-8pm in a private home in Brooklyn Heights. 

Listen to Ben read a short except from his book, participate in a Q&A, and enjoy light bites, drinks and conversation with your neighbors.

An annual tradition, The Perennial Party brings guests together for conversation, connection, and a shared commitment to the green spaces that define our neighborhood.

Your ticket supports the Brooklyn Heights Association’s work to care for and enhance our public spaces—from the Promenade Gardens to tree beds and plantings throughout our streets, including on Montague.

This year, we are so honored to welcome Meera Joshi, President of Green-Wood Cemetery and former NYC Deputy Mayor, who will share insights on the future of urban green spaces and their stewardship in Brooklyn.

A Table for 700? The Longest Table is Back!

Our launch of The Longest Table Brooklyn Heights in 2025 was a wild success, and we can't wait to bring it back to Remsen Street on Saturday, May 16. Missed it last year?  Watch this video to get a sense of how the street was filled with laughter and community.

Does Brooklyn Heights have the "Greenest Block"?

Now celebrating its 30th year, the annual Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest promotes streetscape gardening throughout the borough. The contest is free and open to all residential blocks, commercial blocks, and community gardens in Brooklyn.

Registration runs through the end of May, contest winners are revealed in August, and dozens of prizes are awarded for greening efforts in categories including Best Residential Block, Best Commercial Block, Best Street Tree Beds, Best Window Box, Best Community Garden Streetscape, and more! Learn more about the qualifications and consider entering one of our beautiful blocks.
 

Multigenerational Dog Walking Club

Beginning on Friday, May 1st, senior living community The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights is launching a weekly multigenerational Dog Walking Club that will bring together Watermark residents with fellow dog owners from around Brooklyn.

The club creates an easy, organic way for seniors at the community to build friendships with Brooklyners of all ages, connecting through a shared love of dogs.

The club will meet Friday mornings, beginning May 1st, at 21 Clark Street at 10:30 AM and then will explore the neighborhood together, with plenty of opportunity for conversation along the way.

NYCRuns Half Marathon this Sunday 

Heads up!  The 13.1-mile course will traverse through Brooklyn Heights (along Cadman Plaza West) this Sunday, April 26th.  See the course map here and road closures here.
