Fun at the BHA Egg Hunt!

In spite of the cold, hundreds of little bunnies came out to hunt for eggs and enjoy homemade baked treats last weekend at the BHA Egg Hunt! 

We really appreciate all the help from our volunteers and BHA board members who made this event possible! And of course, to all of you, for showing up and bringing the early spring smiles! It was great to have hot coffee provided by neighborhood favorite, Joe Coffee Company. 

Big thanks to our sponsor, CityPoint for providing gift cards to DeKalb Market and bringing a special guest, the Easter Bunny! We're wondering if any of the elected officials below (Assembly member Simon, CM Restler, and former Comptroller Lander) got the Bunny's endorsement?

Celebrating the Spring Holidays and
Combatting Hate

We wish everyone who celebrates a happy Passover and Easter this week. And belated good wishes for Nowruz and Eid al-Fitr! 

We were appalled to learn about two recent incidents of hate on our community. In the first, a swastika was found graffitied on a vacant Montague Street Storefront in early March. We appreciate the very quick action on the part of DSNY to remove it just minutes after it was reported. 

More recently, a despicable and hateful incident occurred at the Daoud Mosque, also known as the Islamic Mission of America, on State Street. The mosque is nearly a century old, and is a special place of worship for Muslims in Brooklyn Heights. The NYPD is searching for the perpetrator with the help of video footage. 

We condemn these acts in our community and appreciate the quick response of city agencies.

The Perennial Party helps to fund the BHA's many greening and public realm initiatives, including the Promenade Gardens Conservancy (PGC). 
 
This year, we are honored to welcome Meera Joshi, President of one of Brooklyn’s most cherished institutions, Green-Wood Cemetery, and former New York City Deputy Mayor for Operations. She will reflect on the challenges and opportunities for reimagining and stewarding our parks and public spaces, notably in Brooklyn.
 
Your generous contribution helps sustain the vital work of the BHA and the PGC to make our neighborhood a more beautiful, engaging, and sustainable place to live, work, and visit.
