We are really looking forward to gathering for our 2026 Annual Meeting tomorrow evening.  Doors will open at First Unitarian Church (119 Pierrepoint Street) at 6pm and the meeting will begin promptly at 6:30pm.  For those needing assistance entering the building, there is a chair lift at the corner of Pierrepont Street and Monroe Place.  First Unitarian will have an operator on standby to help guests. 

We will celebrate our Community Service Awardees, highlight our accomplishments from 2025 and share our priorities for 2026 - from the BQE to street safety to community events and land use.

We are thrilled that Congress Member Nydia M. Velázquez will be attending our meeting to receive a special recognition from the BHA on the occasion of her retirement. Rep. Velázquez made history in 1992 as the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the U.S.House of Representatives. She later became the first Hispanic woman to serve as Ranking Member of a full House committee. Congresswoman Velázquez represented Brooklyn Heights for many years before the 2022 redistricting and contributed a great deal to our community.  

At the close of the meeting, we will host a Q&A, which is a great opportunity to ask your questions about anything we discussed (or didn't!) and then we will draw our winning raffle tickets for the opportunity to win a prize from some of our favorite local businesses - Jules, Brooklyn Women's Exchange, Din Soup Dumplings and BodyCraft.

As many of you know, a fire at 75 Pierrepont Street in January displaced several families and damaged 22 households. Together, we raised $40,000 in relief funds to support these residents. We are so grateful for your generosity.

The Pierrepont Fire Volunteers are now organizing a second wave of support -  the neighborhood's first-ever Fire Drive to collect and distribute donated furniture, adult clothing, and household items to help these families rebuild their lives.

The office-to-residential conversion at 25 and 30 Columbia Heights is proposing a new adaptive reuse plan of 640 apartments and approximately 113,000 square feet of commercial space.

NYC’s Department of City Planning (DCP) will hold an online “scoping” meeting for the project. The Zoom meeting will be held this Thursday March 12 at 2:00pm. The meeting allows the public to comment on the owner’s draft Scope of Work and Environmental Assessment Statement, which it recently filed with DCP.
