The Egg Hunt is Back

Join us for  the BHA's annual egg hunt on Saturday, April 12 at 10:30am. 

All are welcome, and there is no need to sign up -- but be there at 10:30am SHARP because the eggs go fast!

New in 2025!

Given the popularity of our egg hunt, we have decided to split it into two locations:

Little bunnies 3 years and younger should report to Harry Chapin playground.

Children 4 years and older should head to Pierrepont Playground as usual.

Families with children in both age groups can choose which hunt to attend.

If you miss the eggs, you can still celebrate with our bake sale! 

We would appreciate as many baked goods and volunteers as possible.  Proceeds from the bake sale help fund the egg hunt and many other community activities.  Special thank you to Joe Coffee for suppling the brew!

BHA Springs into Service!

Our annual day of service is back!  We hope you can participate in one of the many activities scheduled for Saturday, April 26th.

Donation Collection - Bring books for Brooklyn Book Bodega, baby & children's supplies for Little Essentials, non-perishable food for 3 local food pantries, and dog and cat food which will be distributed by the Brooklyn Cat Cafe.   Please review our webpage for details on what types of donations will be accepted. All donations can be brought to our collection site at Pierrepont Playground between 10am-2pm.

Email us if you can help us organize the donations on-site. 

Hands-on activities across our neighborhood - We have volunteer projects running at Harry Chapin Playground, Hillside Dog Park, Cadman Plaza, PS8 and many surrounding tree pits on those blocks.  Check out our website for the details. Some activities have sign up links so be sure to register.

Finally, Brooklyn Bridge Park is hosting an e-waste collection.  We have a few cartloads of items that need to be brought down to Emily Warren Roebling Plaza between 10am-12pm. Email us if you can help!

Join Us at the Perennial Party

The BHA's Promenade Garden Conservancy is hosting its annual fundraiser on the evening of Tuesday May 6th from 6:30-8:30pm. The Annual Perennial Party celebrates the professional gardeners and neighborhood volunteers of the Promenade Garden Conservancy, and supports the many ways the BHA makes our neighborhood a more beautiful, connected, and sustainable place to live, work, and visit.

Enjoy wine and nibbles, and entertainment generously provided by the talented Tom Stewart and Maureen Kelley Stewart, who will be performing a collection of nostalgic and quirky Brooklyn-centric songs.

Three Cheers for Smaller Trash Bins

The BHA applauds Council Member Lincoln Restler and DSNY for hearing our community's concerns and designing a smaller, 25-gallon trash bin as part of their new trash containerization program. 

Beginning in June 2026, all properties with 1-9 residents must use the official NYC bins, formerly only available in a 35 or 45 gallon size.  The new 25 gallon size will fit in many of the custom built trash enclosures in our neighborhood and are also lighter to pull to the curb.  Read the details in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
 
Testify to Support Safer Intersections in NYC

Join the BHA and fellow New Yorkers to speak at the City Council Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hearing on Council Member Julie Won's bill Intro 1138 that would mandate universal daylighting. 

Universal daylighting requires the clearing of parking spaces and other obstructions near intersections and crosswalks to improve visibility for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The hearing is scheduled for April 21, 2025 at 10am at City Hall. Open Plans will be hosting a rally at 9am that morning on the City Hall steps. Please join!
