It's that time again!

The 2025 Brooklyn Heights Association Annual Meeting will take place on Thursday, March 6th at First Unitarian Congregational Society (119 Pierrepont Street).  Doors will open at 6pm and the meeting will begin promptly at 6:30.

Join us to hear about our 2024 work & accomplishments, discuss our plans for 2025, and help honor our Community Service award winners. There will also be time for you to ask questions about what's happening in Brooklyn Heights now and in the future.

Enjoy a short reception with refreshments following the meeting and connect with your neighbors.

Join the BHA, the Institute for Public Architecture and the Center for Brooklyn History for a panel discussion on how green gentrification can be considered – and avoided – as we look towards the future of the BQE.  The event begins with a screening of The Story of the BQE, a documentary by architect Adam Paul Susaneck, Founder of Segregation by Design. Read about the event, including the panel of experts who will be sharing their insights.  

This event will take place on Tuesday, March 11th beginning at 6:30pm at the Center for Brooklyn History (128 Pierrepont Street)

There are no words to convey the impact that last week's plane crash in Washington D.C. has had on the friends and families of the passengers and crew.  This tragedy was brought particularly close to home as we learned that one of the passengers, Melissa Jane Nicandri, was a Brooklyn Heights resident.  We send strength and healing to Melissa's family and friends, and all who were impacted by this incredibly sad event.

The BHA has long advocated for better sanitation across our neighborhood. 

Recently, we identified all of the old wire mesh trash bins still in use and and thanks to funding from CM Lincoln Restler's office, we now have 8 new, more rat-resistant "Better Bins' that have replaced the old ones.

We welcomed these new additions along Henry Street (and the intersections of Remsen, Joralemon and State Streets),  Willow (at the intersections of Pineapple and Orange Streets) , as well as at the intersection of Hicks and Remsen Streets and Clinton and State Streets.  We hope to see the final wire basket relics officially retired in the near future. Thank you Council Member Restler and DSNY!

We have some amazing playgrounds in Brooklyn Heights.  And while NYC Parks manages the general playground maintenance, the BHA helps to care for them when city staffing is limited. We are currently looking for some neighbors who are interested in giving Harry Chapin Playground (Columbia Heights at Middagh Street) some much needed TLC.

We are also thrilled to be bringing back Montague Open Streets, led by the Montague Business Improvement District in partnership with the Department of Transportation.  Get ready for another fun season of Open Streets Sundays in Brooklyn Heights. 

And yes, the BHA Dog Show will be returning on Sunday, June 1st! !

The NYC Department of Transportation will be closing the northbound lane of Furman Street from Joralemon Street to Grace Court from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th. Only one lane will be available during these hours for this segment of Furman Street. Flaggers will be present at either end of the closure to guide traffic. This closure is required for site work and is dependent on the
weather and field conditions. Rain date for this work is Friday, February 7th.
