Thanks to all who came out to organize, play and cheer on our first-ever Pickleball Tournament on Montague Open Streets. The energy was high as teams competed for an array of exciting prizes generously donated by Montague Street businesses. Sunday, October 13th:  Wellness + Workouts.  Pop-Up classes will be offered by Barry's, Wundabar, Good Day Pilates and Gthr Yoga, with a plank off challenge led by SLT (coming to Montague Street this fall!).  Other wellness activities include Tee Acupuncture and a cold plunge with Recoverie.  Read all the details here.

Sunday, October 20th: Montague Open Streets with DOT and CM Lincoln Restler. Compost Giveaway - Reserve your 40lb bags now; Bindlestiff Family Cirkus; and a Bike Bonanza including a Helmet Giveaway (all ages), Children’s Bike Swap (24” wheel bike or smaller) and Learn-To-Ride Lessons for Children (Register here).

Sunday, October 27th: Halloween Spooktacular. The final Open Streets of the 2024 season will offer a pumpkin patch, trick-or-treating and many more surprises.  In addition the New York Blood Center Bloodmobile is back for a Fall Blood Drive. Get into the Halloween spirit and treat someone to the gift of life.  Be a hero (no costume required.) Friendly Parking Reminder: If you are parked on Montague Street between Hicks and Clinton Street, kindly remember to move your car by 10am for the remaining Sundays in October.  Opening up the street, enables all of these great programs to happen. And, your car is at risk of being towed if left on the street. 

We had 2 great events this past week at the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse!

On Monday, October 7th, we welcomed The RealReal to the Showhouse for a night of consignment.  Guests were asked to bring items to consign, with the first item's commission going to the BHA.  Guests were also challenged to figure our the genuine designer items by playing "Real or Faux".  That's our Showhouse Primary bedroom designer Lynn Kloythanomsup (above) of Landed Interiors examining a pair of Yves Saint Laurent boots (there were real!)

On Tuesday, October 8th, we opened our doors to Gautier Coiffard of the beloved local bakery and viral sensation L'Appartement 4F.  A delicious time was had by all as Gautier showed us how to make the bakery's famous tahini sea salt chocolate chip cookies in the gorgeous Showhouse kitchen!

Both of these unique events include a guided tour of the Showhouse.

If you are interested in having your own unique Showhouse experience, we are scheduling a few more events before the Showhouse closes on November 3rd including a Tablescaping Event scheduled for the evening of October 22nd. See below for more details.

Open Tour:  Not interested in an event, but would love a guided tour of the Showhouse?  We have scheduled an Open Tour on Tuesday morning, October 22nd at 11am. Tickets are sold individually and the group is capped at 25 people.  The tour will led by one of our Showhouse Chairs.  Purchase your ticket here.

Now through October 15th - Donate new or gently used costumes to benefit children at Safe Horizon And Violence Intervention program.  Drop off at St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Chuch (157 Montague Street).  Organized by The Service Collective.

Now through November 3rd - Visit the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse. General admission Wednesdays through Sundays 11am-7pm (Thursdays until 8pm). Purchase tickets.

Saturday, October 19th, 12-3pm - Poplar Street Community Garden Pumpkin Party. RSVP. This event is co-sponsored by the BHA.

Saturday, October 19th - Voices in the Heights season premier.

Sunday, October 20th - Community Planting at Cadman Park.  Meet at Brooklyn War Memorial.  10am-12pm.

Monday, October 21st @ 7pm - Friends of the Brooklyn Heights Branch Library Fall Benefit.
