Montague Open Streets Returns Next Sunday
 

Get ready for more fun on Montague Street this fall!  Open Streets returns on Sunday, September 15th with a Back to School Party sponsored by Brooklyn Bridge Parents x Mommy Poppins.  Over 30 free activities and performances will be on the street beginning at 12pm. Read more details and RSVP!

Save the date every Sunday on Montague through the end of October for a variety of events including:

October 6th - Pickleball Pickup + Sign up for our first-ever Tournament.

Friendly Reminder:  Cars parked on Montague Street between Clinton and Hicks need to be moved Sundays by 10am (beginning Sept 15th) so that we can enjoy the space and open streets.  Thank you!

If you were away for the summer, welcome back!  If you've been enjoying the quiet Brooklyn streets this summer, welcome back to the hustle and bustle! 

We are excited that September is finally here because that means our Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse is about to open!

Get a sneak peak of the amazing work of 16 designers by joining us Wednesday, September 25th for our Opening Night Party.  This is the BHA's most critical fundraiser. The money raised at this event enables us to continue all the quality of life work for our neighborhood!  Buy your tickets and enjoy a night of tasty bites, delicious drinks and meet the designers who turned this beautiful late Greek Revival townhouse into something both unexpected and unique.

Showhouse Volunteers Needed

Our Designer Showhouse opens to the public on Friday, September 26th and runs through Sunday, November 3rd.  We are in need of volunteers to staff the house for 3- hour shifts.  Volunteers are responsible for directing the flow of visitors, overseeing visitors in their assigned rooms and answering any basic design questions (you will be provided with that information.)

Upcoming BQE Lane Closure

The NYCDOT will close two lanes on the Staten Island-bound BQE from Adams Street to Washington Street during the weekend of September 14 to September 16 per the schedule below. One lane will be available during the weekend for this stretch of the Staten Island-bound BQE. These lane closures are required for the installation of new pavement along the BQE (I-278).

Staten Island-bound BQE – only one lane available for entire weekend from Adams Street to Washington Street from 1:00 a.m. Saturday (9/14) to 5:00 a.m. Monday (9/16)
 
Celebrate the Brooklynites Who Keep our Neighborhoods Clean

Clean neighborhoods are critical to our quality of life – and that’s why CM Rester's office is celebrating the Brooklynites who work so hard to keep the streets and sidewalks of the 33rd District clean.

Sanitation workers, Parks workers, ACE Programs for the Homeless employees, BID cleaning staff, and every neighbor who puts time into keeping the sidewalk clean - are all part of the collective effort to keep our shared spaces beautiful.

Is there someone in your neighborhood who goes above and beyond to keep our streets clean? Nominate them by September 20th!
 
Teen Community Club

The Service Collective is offering an 11-week after-school project series for kids ages 9-17 years old. 

The group meets Wednesdays beginning September 25th from 3:45-5:15pm at 157 Montague St. (St. Ann & Holy Trinity).  Volunteers can sign up for  the program or individual projects each week.

Activities will including making lunches for CHiPS soup kitchen, supporting shelter animals, grocery shopping for homebound neighbors, planting a community pollinator garden and MORE!

Tuesday, September 17th - 84th Community Council Meeting, Borough Hall.  Meeting begins promptly at 7pm (pizza served prior)

Sunday, September 22nd - Brooklyn Book Festival begins. 

Tuesday, September 24th - Celebrate Neighborhood Seniors luncheon hosted in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Volunteers needed as servers and/or table runners. Sign up here.
