We hope you are enjoying "My Brooklyn Heights," a web series spotlighting diverse members of our community and capturing the essence of Brooklyn Heights through storytelling. The series is led by Brooklyn Heights residents and BHA volunteers, Andrew Nodell and Andy McNeil.

Our first 3 interviews, with Grammy-award winning flutist Brandon Patrick, journalist Laura Trevelyan and coffee entrepreneur Jonathan Rubinstein are spotlighted on our Instagram page, with the full interviews posted on our You Tube Channel. 

Episode 4 introduces Tony Soll, a neighborhood musician, teacher, dog lover and longtime Brooklyn Heights resident.  If you are ever at the Cadman Oval during morning off-leash hours, you're likely to see him.

We will continue to post interviews throughout the summer and we welcome your ideas for people whom you believe would showcase the rich tapestry of experiences and perspectives that make Brooklyn Heights such a special place.
 
Last Call for Backpacks!

Every student needs quality supplies to succeed in school. CM Restler's office is once again running a Back to School Drive for students in District 33's highest need schools.

New backpacks can be dropped off or shipped to the office at 410 Atlantic Avenue, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm through August 16. 
 
Redevelopment of St. Francis Campus

Rockrose Development has purchased the former St. Francis site in Brooklyn Heights on Remsen Street. The new site will be primarily residential, with retail on Joralemon and Remsen. There will be 746 apartments including 188 affordable homes. Interior demolition is already underway and the new apartment building is expected to be completed in June 2025. 

The BHA participated in a stakeholders meeting with Rockrose to discuss the impacts of construction, including lane closures on Remsen and Joralemon Streets. You can read more details on the plans here.  We will keep you informed as this project progresses.
 
Fight the Rats this Summer

Movies with a View at Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park is hosting outdoor movies every Thursday evening at Pier 1. There are four more movies scheduled for the summer.  Check out the line-up here

The Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse will return this fall! 

Attend the Opening Night Party on Wednesday, September 25th and be among the first to see the amazing designs while supporting the BHA!

The night will feature delicious hors d'oeuvres catered by Purslane, innovative cocktails, and an opportunity to meet the designers from the Brooklyn and New York City's design community who will  transform this beautiful brick Greek Revival townhouse into something both unexpected and cutting-edge.

This event is our most important fundraiser and it only happens once every two years. The event is what makes it possible for us to continue our important advocacy efforts and our focus on quality of life and community building initiatives that make our neighborhood the special place it is. Sidewalk Cleaning in Brooklyn Heights

Summers always bring about more visitors (and more trash) to our neighborhood.  We appreciate the support of CM Restler's Office, which has funded ACE Programs for the Homeless to provide supplemental street cleaning in the following parts of our neighborhood:

The Brooklyn Promenade (Cranberry to Remsen) 
Court St (west side) from Montague to Joralemon 
The grassy knoll near the BQE underpass at Atlantic & Furman 

We support this partnership that provides jobs to people in need and makes a difference in our neighborhood.
