NYC DOT has announced two upcoming workshops focused on "BQE Central" aka the Atlantic to Sands section of the corridor. You can attend on Thursday, June 20th in person at 300 Jay Street @ 6:30pm. Or, sign up to join the online workshop Monday June 24th @ 6:30pm using this link. We understand that the bulk of the agenda at these workshops will be focused on previewing and getting feedback on a new design for the Triple Cantilever, although DOT will provide an update on planning for the far south (Joralemon St to Atlantic Ave) and far north (Dumbo and Manhattan Bridge) sections of the corridor. As some of you may have seen in the press, the city is planing major new waterfront development in Brooklyn; starting from the piers just south of Atlantic Avenue and extending southwards into Red Hook. (Read the city's press release here.) This will undoubtedly impact BQE planning going forward, although we don't have any details yet. NOTE: The BHA remains deeply committed to finding the best solution possible for this community, and to working in close partnership with every BQE-impacted neighborhood to ensure a true corridor wide transformation. Of course we’ll be at both workshops, but it's still very important that DOT and our elected officials hear directly from you, too, so we hope you'll join one or both of these upcoming meetings. |
