Welcome Montague Diner!

 

We are thrilled that the space formerly known as Happy Days Diner is now open for business as the Montague Diner! As reported by Grub Street, the new diner was "fastidiously refurbished" by "movie people" including producer Gabriel Nussbaum and directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost with food overseen by Halley Chambers and Kip Green, who run Margot in Fort Greene.

Many of the folks involved with Montague Diner either reside in or have roots in Brooklyn Heights, so we’re especially excited to welcome them.

Montague Diner officially opened Monday March 18 serving breakfast, lunch AND dinner, including an early bird breakfast special (only $13.50) of 2 eggs any style, bacon, toast, potatoes, orange juice and coffee.

Fun Fact #1:  Over a year ago, the BHA met with and encouraged Chambers and Green to consider opening on Montague Street and showed them available spaces along the corridor. Happy Days indeed!

Fun Fact #2: 148 Montague Street started out in 19th century as an upscale  brownstone, once home to the Secretary of the Navy. 100 years later it housed a malt shop called the "Snack Pit."

How Can We Improve Columbus Park?

If you weren’t able to make the February 26th reimagining Columbus Park event, now is your chance to share your thoughts!

The BHA is participating in the Columbus Park Task Force, led by Borough President Antonio Reynoso,  the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, and CM Lincoln Restler  We are excited to help reimagine this park so it can serve as a true community space.

With the warmer weather comes fresh local produce.  Sign up now to join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and receive delicious produce while supporting local farmers.  

There are three CSA pick up locations right here in Brooklyn Heights:

Brooklyn Bridge CSA- Pick up at First Presbyterian Church (124 Henry Street)

Garden of Eve - Pick up at First Unitarian Congressional Society (121 Pierrepont Street)

Siena Farms - Pick up at Vineapple Cafe (71 Pineapple Street)

A Place for Your E-Waste

Join CM Restler at the Borough Hall Greenmarket at Cadman Plaza West on Saturday, April 6 from 9am -12pm to recycle your old electronics! No registration required.

Dumping them in the trash can lead to hazardous materials including lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, making their way into our landfills. 

Note: Air conditioners, appliances, batteries, and light bulbs are not accepted.
 
Opening of "A Little Light Music"

Did you know that longtime Brooklyn Heights residents (and BHA members) Judith Jarosz and David Fuller are the Co-Producing Artistic Directors of  Brooklyn Heights’ New York award winning professional theater company, THEATER 2020?

Their spring performance of Stephen Sondheim musical “A Little Night Music”,  is opening on Thursday, April 18th and will run through Sunday, May 12th.
