We've heard from a number of residents about the proposed new house in what is currently a garden lot at 39 Grace Court, and have been following this proposed development closely. The BHA Landmarks Committee has met with the architects and developers over the past few months, as we usually do when there is significant building or renovation proposed in the historic district. The project is currently scheduled to be heard by the Landmarks Preservation Committee at a public hearing on Tuesday, January 30th. The public has an opportunity to testify in person or by Zoom, and in writing. The BHA will be testifying against the proposal. We encourage all interested residents to also testify. We suggest targeting your remarks at the proposal's aspects that are within LPC's purview: the long history of the gardens as part of the Grace Court streetscape; deficiencies in the proposed design of the new house; and the new design's relationship (or lack thereof) to the architectural heritage of Grace Court. If you would like to testify in person, you must register by 7AM on Monday Written testimony can be submitted in person at the meeting or in advance (no later than Monday @ 12pm, but ideally by 5pm Friday.) Read how to submit testimony in advance. You can view the full LPC meeting agenda here, which will be updated once the time for the discussion of 39 Grace Court is confirmed. Details on the hearing, including a zoom link and how to testify can be found here.
