Sunday, October 8th
Pickleball and More this Sunday on Montague
 

The rain can't ruin our fun!  Montague Open Streets will happen this Sunday, October 8th with our marquee Montague Open!  Grab a paddle (or borrow one of ours), bring a friend (or make a new one) and join us for a round of pickleball on one of three temporary courts on Montague Street between Clinton and Henry! Courts open at 12pm.

No experience needed, although we recommend a minimum age of 12.  Can you help us set the courts?  Email us!

Hype Dance Community and the 21+ Cocktail Co-op will be on the street as well! Grab an adult beverage from any business on Montague and enjoy it with friends in our dedicated al fresco space.

The sun should be out, so come join us!

If your car is parked on Montague between Hicks and Clinton Street, please move it Sunday by 9am so we can set up the courts and enjoy a full day of fun!

On Deck for Next Saturday October 14th 

On Saturday, October 14th Montague Open Streets from Hicks to Henry is going back to the dogs!  Join Robert Haussman and DogBoy NYC for agility practice and training questions, get photos with local photographer Amy Gibbs, plan a dog pawrty with Pupscale Events, buy ethically-made and sustainable dog products from Gone to the Dogs, chat with volunteers from our local dog parks (Hillside and Adam Yauch), "draw" attention to shelter animals with The Service Collective, frolic in the dog pools and don't forget to say hi to Sammy and buy some treats at Pets Emporium!

In addition, Montague from Clinton to Henry will be filled with great (non-canine) activities.  Check here for all the details including the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus (rescheduled from earlier this month.)

Important: The New York Blood Center will be onsite and there are many slots open!  Due to bad weather, we had to reschedule this critically important blood drive.  We are facing a blood emergency and your donation can save 3 lives!  

Donors must be 16*-75 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and have a valid photo ID.  *16 year olds must have a singed permission slip from their parent or guardian to donate.

The Brooklyn Heights Community Planning survey is still open and we REALLY WANT your feedback!

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT), along with the BHA and CM Restler's office  is collecting community feedback and ideas to bring about a safer, more sustainable neighborhood. That means things like increased pedestrian space, street seating, loading zones and other curbside changes, and other improvements to the public realm. 

This survey builds on the work the BHA has been doing since 2020 to engage and educate our community around public realm issues. Help us bring some positive changes to Brooklyn Heights!

Shred Fest and Touch-A-Truck Extravaganza | Saturday, Oct 7th, 9AM - 12PM.  Borough Hall Green Market.  Sponsored by CM Restler's Office.  Heads up!  Saturday's forecast is rainy.  Wet documents cannot be accepted so be sure to transport your papers in a protected container.

Tree Care Captain Webinar  |  October 11th and October 17th, 6:00PM - 7:30PM. Tree Care Captains are advanced, independent volunteers trained by NYC Parks to care for street trees and organize their communities to help care for our urban forest Register to become a Tree Care Captain.

Free Flu Shots | Thursday, October 12th, 3PM-7PM.  Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon and Senator Andrew Gounardes are partnering with NYU Langone to offer free flu vaccines at their Cobble Hill location (70 Atlantic Avenue).  Sign up for an appointment here

Daffodil Planting at Cadman Park | Sunday, October 22nd, 10AM - 1PM. Sign up by emailing the Cadman Park Conservancy.
