BQE Repairs: Important Read 
Closures Begin Tonight, Join Information Meeting Thursday
 

As we shared last week, the DOT repairs to spans 4 and 34 of the BQE deck are going to begin in July. The repair work will take place largely overnight (between 1-5am) and will require up to three weekend closures of the BQE.  

In order to start preparing for these repairs, nighttime closures of the Columbia Street entrance ramp to Staten Island-bound BQE, as well as other changes, will take place beginning 12:01am Tuesday, June 27th.  The DOT has created detailed explanations of their planned summer work and how traffic will be rerouted.  Please read these carefully.

In addition, the DOT, in partnership with the BHA and CM Restler, is hosting an online information session on Thursday June 29th @ 6pm so all members of our community can learn about the upcoming work.  Please register using the link below

ASP Fines Could Get Tougher

CM Restler recently introduced a proposal that would increase fines for repeat offenders of Alternate Street Parking rules. We've heard from many of your who are frustrated that your streets can't get swept because of parked cars (we share in that frustration!) and we are thrilled that CM Restler is working to get our streets cleaner.

Help Us Fix The Garbage 

Tired of seeing bins like these as you try to enjoy a walk in Brooklyn Heights?  We need your help! 

Please take photos of overflowing public garbage bins  and email them to us at info@thebha.org.  Please include the date and intersection of the bin.  We will be compiling these to share with the Department of Sanitation in an effort to clean up our streets.

It is equally important that you also submit these complaints to DSNY via their 311 site.  DSNY tracks these complaints and makes adjustments to their pick up schedule based on what they hear.  It takes a village!
