The beautiful Brooklyn Heights Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library is officially open! At over 26,000 square feet, the branch has more public space than any other branch in Brooklyn aside from the Central branch at Grand Army Plaza. It includes a children's area, a dedicated teen space, meeting rooms available to the public, and lots of bright airy spaces to browse and read. At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, BPL executives and elected officials acknowledged the road to a new library was not always a smooth one, and they offered their thanks to the community, including the BHA, for its support. The BHA is proud to have supported the initiative not only because we believe that a state-of-the-art library will benefit our neighborhood, but also because of the $40 million in proceeds from the project that were used to benefit branch libraries across Brooklyn. You can find the library hours and directions here. Come see this amazing new addition to our neighborhood for yourself! |
