Our friends at the Montague Street BID recently sent out a newsletter highlighting the new businesses which opened during the pandemic including Oula Maternity, Roma Shoe Repair and Jewelry, WundaBar Pilates, Satori Laser and Mr. Fix. Please stop in to say hello and welcome them to the neighborhood! Coming soon are two new businesses – Brownstone Dental (previously on Montague but without a storefront) and Giulia restaurant (brought to you by the owners of the former Heights Café). Add yourself to Giulia's mailing list to receive updates on an opening date and more! Both businesses plan to open in the next 3-6 weeks. Dr. Cormac MacDermott of Brownstone Dental (formerly Brownstone Pediatric Dentistry) says, “In our new space we can serve adults as well as children and will offer orthodontics and have an anesthesiologist on staff for sedation dentistry. 50% of my employees are, like myself, immigrants and we pride ourselves on our diversity and inclusivity. In fact, in the office, we speak 7 languages and hale from 10 different countries!” Retail Attraction The BHA is actively working to attract new small businesses to the neighborhood, especially Montague Street. We have had several meetings and conversations with a variety of restaurateurs, bakers, booksellers and more, to help them find space and meet the landlords. Although it takes time, we are hopeful that we will have more information to share soon about new businesses planning to open. In the meantime, please continue to support the existing businesses you know and love. Elsewhere in Brooklyn Heights We are thrilled to announce that twice-nominated for Best NYC Chef by the James Beard Foundation Chef Sean Rembold and his wife and partner, designer Caron Callahan, are bringing a delicious new neighborhood spot to the former Jack the Horse space on Hicks Street. Sean loves Brooklyn Heights and reached out to the BHA a few months ago about helping him find a suitable location. Of course, we were glad to help! We’ll keep you informed as plans move forward. Drip Coffee has opened for takeout coffee and snacks in the Clark Street Subway station. Owner Nigel Price takes his coffee very seriously and it shows. Stop in soon and show them some love!
