No Trash or Recycling Collection on Monday 
 

On Monday October 12, 2020, there will be no trash or recycling collection, nor street cleaning.

The New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) announced that in observance of Columbus Day, there will be no trash or recycling collection, nor street cleaning, on Monday, October 12, 2020.

Residents who normally receive Monday trash collection should hold their material back until their next collection day, if possible. Residents will not be penalized for placing material at the curb between 4:00 pm and midnight Monday evening, however collection may be delayed, as is common after all holidays. DSNY appreciates your patience as it works to collect the backlog of material.

Residents who normally receive Monday recycling collection should place their material out at curbside after 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 18 for pickup on Monday, October 19.

Hicks Street Wall Repair Update 

Work began this week on the Hicks Street Wall. As we've previously reported, the wall has become structurally unsound and requires immediate repairs. 

NYCDOT met with representatives from PS 8 and local elected officials earlier this week to discuss plans to mitigate negative constricution impacts on the school and surrounding streets and homes. Work is beginning at the end of the wall farthest from the school and DOT will conduct air and noise monitoring throughout the duration of the project at multiple locations and will be issuing weekly notices with information about upcoming work. The BHA will continue to stay involved with all of the stakeholders and monitor the situation.
