A Conversation with Catherine Zuber, Costume Designer & Heights Resident

Join Broadway aficionado David Kramer for a conversation with seven-time Tony winner Catherine Zuber about her extraordinary career in the theater.

Catherine Zuber's costumes can currently be seen in Moulin Rouge, The Musical on Broadway and in the Metropolitan Opera's production of Porgy and Bess. Original sketches for these, recent Broadway productions of My Fair Lady, War Paint, and The Red Shoes, as well as the upcoming Rigoletto at the Met are on display at the Brooklyn Heights Designer Showhouse.

Come early and tour the house. Stay after and enjoy a glass of wine with Catherine and David.

Atlantic Antic Recap & A BQE Shout-Out from NY Times 

No news yet from the Mayor's Expert Panel, but at September's Atlantic Antic, we chatted with Comptroller Scott Stringer about the BQE and our efforts to ensure that the city work with the community to find a forward-looking solution. The Comptroller thanked the BHA and the entire community for its work, and credited our activism with having changed the conversation. We thank you in return, Comptroller, for your attention to this problem and your own work to find a better solution than the "Promenade Highway." 

Yesterday the New York Times Editorial Board also weighed in and urged the Mayor to focus on the city, including the BQE reconstruction. "The communities surrounding the promenade [..] have offered far better solutions" than his 3 billion Promenade Highway. No argument here!
 
Calling all 8th-12th Graders! Join the
Brooklyn Youth Policy Council

State senator Brian Kavanagh's office in partnership with Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, Councilmember Stephen Levin, and Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez is convening its annual Brooklyn Youth Policy Council. It is a wonderful opportunity for students in our community to be more civically engaged, interact with local elected officials and their staffers, and learn more about the government. Students currently in the 8th to 12th grades are eligible to apply. The council meets once a month in Downtown Brooklyn.

The first council meeting met on October 2nd, but they are continuing to accept students into the program. For questions, please contact Greer Mayhew, Community Liaison
