World Singing Day Arrives in BKLYN

Love to sing?  Whether you can carry a tune or prefer to lip-synch, we hope you will join us this Saturday, October 17 at noon by the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall for New York City's first ever World Singing Day!

What began in 2012 by a Colorado-based musician is turning into a worldwide day of human connection.  We will be singing 23 songs that appeal to all generations.  Songbooks will be provided, but you can take a sneak peak here.

The New York Times lists World Singing Day in their weekly The Good List and we couldn't agree more.  This is a feel-good event and the BHA is so proud to be hosting it.

Special thanks to our businesses sponsors, James Weir Floral, Streamline Pilates and The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights, as well as those individuals who sponsored a song. Special shout out to BHA member Bob Yates for bringing this event to our attention and making it happen!

Hope to see you there!

Ask Questions and Make Yourself Heard

BQE Townhall @ Boro Hall - October 29

Join the BHA and our local elected officials for a Townhall on Thursday, October 29 to ask questions and raise any concerns to the Mandami administration on the latest proposal to fix the BQE Triple Cantilever. Of particular concern is the proposed construction of damaging and disruptive temporary highway bypasses in our dense neighborhoods.

City officials will make a presentation on their proposal, explain next steps, and have breakout tables for those with additional questions.

As we've reported in previous newsletters, NYC DOT has kicked off the environmental review process for the BQE Central Project. As part of this process, NYC DOT will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement, or EIS. The EIS will study topics such as construction, traffic, noise, air quality, parks and open space, historic resources, neighborhood character, and other potential effects.

We strongly encourage you to review the Draft Scope of Work . The Draft Scope explains what NYC DOT plans to study in the Environmental Impact Statement and how those studies will be conducted. It also describes the proposed project, its purpose and need, and the process to be followed.

The Town Hall is an important opportunity to learn more and provide feedback as this project is taking shape.

The meeting will take place at 6pm on Thursday October 29 at Borough Hall.  Register.
