See you at the Tree and Last Call for Warm Coats

Join us tonight, Wednesday, December 13th at 5:30pm on the Promenade @ Montague Street for a tree lighting ceremony, hosted by the Brooklyn Heights Garden Club. Santa will be visiting and Grace Chorale will be singing.  Afterwards, take a stroll up Montague Street to the Brooklyn Women's Exchange, which will be open for holiday shopping until 7pm.

Bring your coats to donate!  We will be collecting coats for the final day today from 11am-12:30pm at our office (55 Pierrepont St, 2nd floor) and then at the tree lighting until 6pm!  Look for the cart with the New York Cares signs.  Thank you to all who have donated!

Volunteers Needed:  Volunteers are needed to help sort gifts at St. Ann's Church on Montague Street on December 16th between 10:30am - 1pm.  This is a great project for kids!  See details and sign up for a shift - "COMMUNITY TOY DRIVE: COLLECT DONATIONS".
 
Brooklyn Heights Public Library Program

Do you have photos or other documents that are important to you and that you'd like to preserve digitally? Not sure where to start?

Come learn about preserving your personal memorabilia, and take home some high quality scans! Sarah Quick, Reference Archivist at the Center for Brooklyn History, and Lawrence Fiorelli, Librarian at Brooklyn Heights, will host a talk about how to preserve your personal documents and photos. Bring up to five (5) personal items to scan, and we will help you make high quality scans to take home with you on a USB! (USBs will be provided)

Wednesday, December 20th, 10:30-11:30am @ Brooklyn Heights Library, Multipurpose Room, 286 Cadman Plaza West.  No RSVP needed.
 
How Can I Find Out More About ...?

What's happening with the jail construction on Atlantic Avenue?  Does that smoke shop on my block have the correct licenses?  Why does that park no longer allow dogs?  Will that new restaurant have live music?  


There are 59 Community Boards in NYC which monitor local delivery of municipal services; resolve constituent concerns; serve as first review of City and State applications; and advise on local land use, zoning issues, public policy, and the City budget.  We live in Brooklyn Community Board 2.  Are you getting their emails?  If not, sign up here.
