We're very happy to announce that Council Member Lincoln Restler's office and the Department of Sanitation have delivered 5 new trash bins to Brooklyn Heights in response to requests from the BHA. The new containers are higher capacity and more rat-resistant than the old wire bins they've replaced, not to mention more attractive.(Other new bins have been delivered across the 33rd District.) The new bins can be spotted on Columbia Heights at the corners of Pineapple, Pierrepont and Clark Streets, as well as on two corners of Hicks and Clark Streets. We know there are still many wire bins across the Heights, and we continue to advocate for their replacement. We need everyone's participation to keep our neighborhood clean. Here are ways you can help! 1. Don't feed the pigeons or other wildlife! Also, bring garbage to the curb as close to pick-up time as possible. Find these and other tips for helping limit rats in our neighborhood on the NYC Health Website. 2. See a rat outside a restaurant? In a park? Report it on the 311 Website! This is critically important as the city agencies really do monitor this data to determine where to address sanitation issues. 3. Trash not collected?
