BQE RECONSTRUCTION UPDATE

BHA featured in CBS segment on the BQE

Friends,

From the first day the City’s Department of Transportation came into our community with a misguided BQE reconstruction plan that would have a devastating impact on the health, safety and quality of life of our area and surrounding neighborhoods, we’ve been proud to lead the opposition.

And the BHA’s momentum continues to build! We have engaged the City with alternative ideas that would help avoid the damage that the City’s plans would cause to our communities. While the City hasn’t yet responded, we will not let them get away with silence. We will continue to make our voices heard loud and clear until they come back to the table with a plan that works for our area.

Our Executive Director recently had the opportunity to speak with CBS2 about our efforts and we hope you’ll take a few moments to watch.

Just last weekend we joined with hundreds of protesters and some of our top elected officials in opposition to the City’s plans. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said he was against the plan, “plain and simple,” and City Comptroller Scott Stringer hit the nail on the head with how poorly the City has managed this process, saying, “We need to include community voices, not steamroll them.”

Together we will fight for a plan that works for Brooklyn Heights and our neighboring communities. Please help get others involved by sharing the segment on Facebook, Twitter, and by forwarding this email to 5 friends!

Thank you,
